Brian De Stefano (they/them) is a conductor, singer, and composer. They are a second year Masters of Music student in Choral Conducting at Yale University, where they study choral conducting with Grete Pedersen and Dr. Jeffrey Douma. Additionally, Brian studies liturgical music with James O’Donnell. Brian serves as the Choir Director at the University Church in Yale, after being the Assistant Choir Director in the previous academic year. Brian also is the artistic director of Yale Compline, a student-led liturgical ensemble. Brian sings with the Yale Schola Cantorum, as well as other curricular choral ensembles.

 

As a composer, Brian specializes in liturgical music, and has composed music for the Yale Schola Cantorum, the choir of the Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, TX, the choir of Christ Church, New Haven, the Yale Compline choir, and the Rostra Collective. They also have experience as an arranger of a cappella music, writing for several competitive barbershop quartets and choruses, as well as the 2024 ICCA finalist a cappella group Capital Green.

 

Brian is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where they sang with A Cappella Choir, the flagship choral ensemble. In Dallas, Brian sang professionally with the Church of the Incarnation Choir, the Verdigris Ensemble, and the Saint Michael and All Angels Compline Choir. In their free time, Brian can be found drinking specialty coffee, listening to obscure Anglican church music, or singing barbershop music.
