Tenor Matthew Newhouse brings evocative and powerful storytelling to concert and historical performance. He has performed across North America and Europe with esteemed conductors Masaaki Suzuki, Grete Pedersen, Yaniv Dinur, Nic McGegan, David Hill and Christopher Allen. Soloist highlights include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic (Mozart Requiem), Academy of Sacred Drama (Scarlatti Il Martirio di S. Teodosia), Tucson Symphony (Handel Messiah), Baltimore Symphony (Ethyl Smith Mass in D), Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang), Ars Lyrica Houston (BWV 201), Duke Chapel Music Series, and Utah Symphony (Mozart Requiem). An equally skilled ensemble singer, Newhouse holds core positions with Fourth Wall Ensemble, The Leonids, Yale Consort, and more. Matthew champions Icelandic vocal repertoire and strives for its inclusion in the classical canon. He holds a Master of Music in Early Music Voice from Yale University.
